Stitch abbreviations:

  • ch (chain stitch)
  • sc (single crochet)
  • hdc (half double crochet)
  • st (stitch or stitches)

This is what you’ll need:

  • Bulky yarn
  • Crochet hook 8mm

Note:

  • Make sure to crochet loosely, so it’s easier to do the star stitch

ch165 (a multiple of 2+11: Draw up a loop in 2nd ch from hook, draw up a loop in the next 4ch (now you have 6 loops on your crochet hook)Yarn over and pull through all 6 loopsch1. 2sc in the next st, which is the middle of the star* skip 1 st, 2sc in the next st (middle of the star) * repeat until last st, end the row with 1sc in the top of turning ch

3: ch3Draw up a loop in 2nd ch from hook and draw up a loop in 3rd ch from hook

Draw up a loop in next 3st, yarn over, pull through and ch1

* Draw up a loop in the middle of the star, draw up a loop through the last loop of previous star, draw up a loop in same ch as previous star, draw up a loop in the next 2st (so each star uses 2 new st), Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops, ch1 * repeat until last st, hdc in last st4: ch1, 1sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, which is the middle of the star, * skip 1st, 2sc in the next star * repeat until last st, 1sc in last st

Keep repeating rows 3 and 4 until you have reached the desired length of your blanket. I made this blanket for a little girl and my blanket measures 105cm/41,5inch in width and 80cm/31,5inch in length

Ruffled edge (crochet around blank with the wrong side facing you):

1: sc around the blanket, with 3sc in each corner (on the sides of the blanket; 1sc for each row). Close with sl st

2: ch1, 1sc in each st and 3sc in each corner. Close with sl st

3: ch1, 3sc in each st and 6sc in every corner. Close with sl st

4: ch1, 1sc in each st, 3sc in every corner. Close with sl st, fasten off and weave in ends
